Increasing the level of proteolytic enzyme inhibitors is thought to be one of the important protective reactions of plants in response to infection with pathogenic fungi. The effects of Fusarium infection and jasmonic acid on the protease-inhibitory system of wheat (Triticum aestivum) seedlings were investigated. It was shown that changes in the activity of neutral proteases and trypsin inhibitor at the infection by Fusarium graminearum differ in wheat seedlings of varieties with different resistance to fusariosis pathogens. Temperature treatment of the extract, salting out, dialysis and affinity chromatography were used to isolate and purify a trypsin inhibitor from healthy wheat seedlings, infected with Fusarium graminearum, and treated with jasmonic acid ones. Studies of the component composition of isolated trypsin inhibitors using the PAAG electrophoresis method did not reveal varietal polymorphism, but showed changes in the intensity of bands and the number of components of these proteins when plants were infected with the pathogen and exposed to jasmonic acid. The involvement of jasmonic acid in regulating the activity of trypsin inhibitors at infection of wheat with fungal pathogens is discussed.

Key words: Triticum aestivum, fusariosis, resistance, jasmonic acid, proteases, inhibitory proteases
